Norton Field (Directions)
Norton Field
The Norton flying field is located on what is historically known as Norton Air Force Base just 2 miles east of downtown sanbernardino. The runway is 490 feet long and can support about 15 members in the pit areas at a time.
Flying Restrictions
The flying rules for the Norton field that have been a part of our contract with the airport include a wingspan limit of 81 inches and an engine size of 2.80 cu in. We had a verbal agreement that let us temporarily deviate from these limits and we permitted the larger IMAC birds to fly. However, the control tower is now activated and the airport authority has asked us to honor the limits as stated in the contract. If you have any questions about this, contact Paul Smith.
Directions to Norton Field
From the I-10 Freeway
Take the 210 freeway north to 5th street. Go left (west) on 5th to Palm Av.
Go left (south) on Palm about one block and turn right (east) on 3rd St.
Go 0.7 miles and turn left into the airport. A green sign for the Forest Service Air Tanker Base marks the entrance. Immediately bear right on Y St and pass one yield sign. When the road branches stay LEFT and head toward another yield sign. At this point the field is straight ahead on the gravel road.
