14th Annual Toys 4 Tots Fun Fly & Swap Meet:

ToysforTotsSunday, December 9th, is the 14th annual Toys For Tots Fun fly, which is the final flying event of the year for the PVMAC. I cannot think of a better reason to come out and fly than to support the Toys for Tots during the holiday season.  To join the flying fun, the entry fee is $25.00 or you can donate a Brand New Unwrapped Toy with a value of $20.00 or more. There will also be Raffles & Prizes awarded all day, Food & Refreshments and of course a swap meet.

In addition to the fun fly, there is a PVMAC Swap Meet starting at at 7AM. 2 events-in-one  is sure to put a smile on your face. The selling fee is the same for this event $25.00 or an unwrapped toy worth $20 or more.

If you've never been to the Toys for tots fun fly,  this event is nothing like the other PVMAC events during the flying season. You can enjoy Bowling.... With your Plane,  the crowd favorite table landing, and back for a 3rd year, the Paint Gunner Event, where pretend your an AA Gunner defending your base from attack....A new favoite for sure.

The event check in is at 9am sunday monring, Rain Or Shine.

Please come out and support the Toys for Tots. We need your help to make this christmas the best for these kids and all were asking is for a toy.  Flying airplanes is an expensive hobby, and many of us spend hundreds and more a year on it. So there should not be any excuse to come out and support this event by donating a $20 toy.  Even if your not planning on flying,  bring a toy, enjoy the company of friends and watch the action. Horizon Hobby  is again coming through for our Troops and is donating a couple palates of toys, but they cannot do it alone.

This is an AMA sanctioned event, and Current AMA card is required to fly.

Be sure to download Toys for tots flyer here.

January Membership Meeting: Featuring Horizon Hobby

horizonhobby_logo_433To start the year off right,  the PVMAC will hold is 1st membership meeting of 2012, which again will be host to a special presentation by Horizon Hobby.  This special meeting will be On Wednesday, January 4th, at 7:00 PM at the Chino Hanger of Lady Alice.   If you were at last years January membership meeting with Horizon Hobby, you know we had an amazing turnout and a really good time.  Horizon Hobby was so pleased with it last year, they have decided to do it again.   This year, dinner is being served to the first 150 guests that arrive and receive a dinner ticket.  Dinner  is being catered by Zendejas Mexican restaurant, thanks to a generous Goodwine Aerosports Sponsorship!

This meeting will take the place of our normal second Tuesday of the month meeting. Be sure to bring your own folding chairs or you will be standing, and it can get chili in there as there is a large, open  hangar door, so bring a Jacket. All RC airplane enthusiasts are welcome, you do not need to be a club member to attend. If you need directions to the hangar please see the map below.  Water and soft drinks will be provided by the PVMAC.  Arrive early! You don't want to miss this.

Scale Squadron Fly-In 2011:Wrap-up

ScaleSquad_EventWrapup PhotoThe Scale Squadron Fly-In 2011 is behind us and all that can be said is wow. This year's turn out was strong with 68 registered pilots, and almost 550 spectators  throughout the weekend. This was in-spite of the poor weather that was forecasted. New for this year,  was a seminar put on by the Scale squadron with guest speakers Larry Wright & Gordon Trough talking about the basics of Scale Masters and how to get started.  This years lunch menu was one area of improvement, as they were able swap out the usual hot dogs and "hockey pucks" for some Philly Cheese Steaks. The Zap Tap room was also improved this year, thanks in part to the catering which was done by Zendejas Mexican food.  Randy Wilbur, the CD for this event, says that everything went really smooth with no snags.   Thanks to all the numerous volunteers from both the Scale Squadron and the PVMAC who helped make this event possible.

Be sure to check out the Photo Gallary with over 250 Images from the event.
