✈️ Flying at Prado Airpark
Where PVMAC Takes to the Skies
Prado Airpark is the home flying field of the Pomona Valley Model Airplane Club and one of the premier RC flying sites in Southern California. Set within Prado Regional Park, the field offers wide-open airspace, a well-maintained runway, and a friendly atmosphere that pilots of all experience levels can enjoy.
Whether you’re a seasoned flyer or preparing for your very first takeoff, Prado Airpark provides a safe, supportive place to fly — and a great community to fly with.
🛩️ The Flying Field
Prado Airpark is designed to support a wide range of RC aircraft and flying styles. The layout, amenities, and location make it a comfortable place to spend a full day at the field.
Field features include:
- Large paved runway (800’ × 50’, well maintained)
- Unobstructed flying in all directions
- Spacious pit area
- Anchor points in the pits to tie down your canopies
- Portable restrooms
- Parking close to the pits
- Charging permitted (bring your own equipment)
- Suitable for electric, glow, gas, and scale aircraft
The field is well suited for everything from trainers and sport planes to large-scale and advanced models.
Note: Turbine-powered aircraft are not permitted at Prado Airpark.
In addition to its physical features, Prado Airpark is also an officially recognized flying site under FAA and AMA guidelines.
🛡️ FAA-Recognized Flying Site (AMA FRIA)
PVMAC operates as an AMA FRIA Flying Site — an FAA Recognized Identification Area (FRIA).
This designation allows club members to fly compliant radio-controlled aircraft at Prado Airpark in accordance with FAA and AMA safety guidelines—without the need for Remote ID broadcasting.
