Aerobatic Maneuvers

Maneuver Description Youtube Video
Avalanche This maneuver consists of a normal loop with a roll on the top. It can also be performed a a double avalanche with two rolls on the top of the loop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUAoUNcwPz8
Barrel Roll A combination of a loop and a roll. One loop is completed while completing one roll. The flight path during a barrel roll has the shape of a horizontal corkscrew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL2lXwvyXxs
Blender A vertical diving roll that virtually stops its descent as it instantaneously enters into a flat spin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzKTWgDFvU8
Chandelle Consists of a maximum climb, maximum bank combination to obtain the greatest altitude gain for a given airspeed and at the same time making a 180° course reversal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1KtZrNZjC0
Cuban 8 ` http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aodWG9N59VM
Eight Point Roll The Four Point Roll is an Axial Roll but the manoeuvre is interupted at each eighth roll point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9090nAnMxk
Eight Sided Loop This is another variation of the basic loop. The two vertical lines, the 45° lines and the horizontal line on top all have to be of the same length. The exit line at the bottom has to be at least as long as the other seven sides. The eight loops that connect the eight sides have to have the same radius at each corner.
Elevator The Elevator is when you completely stall the aircraft with a massive amount of elevator, either up or down, and it descends almost vertically down (Elevator) upright or inverted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hSD6EjEJhU
English Bunt Half an outside loop starting from upright, straight and erect level flight. (The pilot pushes the stick forward and draws a half circle in the sky from the top down.)
falling Leaf “When the aeroplane is first stalled and is then forced into a spin. As soon as the spin develops the controls are reversed so that a spin begins in the opposite direction. “ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g467q7NbqJ4
Flat Spin A slowly descending spin where the wings are almost or completely level. Can be upright or inverted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qxNkNRUJag
Four Point Roll The Four Point Roll is an Axial Roll but the manoeuvre is interupted at each quarter roll point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9090nAnMxk
Four Point Rolling Circle When an aircraft rolls continuously, stopping at each quarter point, while turning in a circle.
Half reverse Cuban 8 From level flight pull to the 45° up line, 1/2 roll to inverted 45° up line, then 5/8s of a loop to level flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymv4vyoQAs8
HammerHead (Stall) Turn The plane goes upward, decelerates, yaws 180° under stall, and comes down nearly the same path it goes up, as if it gets hammered on the head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AdONUJ3kZI
Harrier Very slow forward flight in a very nose high (about 45º) attitude. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHkBavEhTAo
High Alpha Knife Edge When the Airplane is Rolled 90 degrees, and then the angle of the nose is pointed at a High angle away from the ground, and the throttle is used to maintain level flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lag9qtkkCkY
Humpty Bumps At it’s most basic, the Humpty Bump consists of a quarter loop into the vertical. On the way up, the model is half rolled. A half loop at the top results in the model coming vertically down where a half roll is executed followed by a quarter loop to pull out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akpqPcVPwPc
Immelman “Performing a half loop. Apply either left or right aileron once you reach the top of the half loop to roll the airplane right-side-up. Complete this aerobatic RC maneuver by exiting with straight and level flight. “ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S6RNWE0WKQ
Inside Loop When the Aircraft enters a regular loop from level flight and the canopy is pointed inward http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=926e_wRR9WA
Inside-Outside Eight This figure is similar to a Full Cuban Eight, but it does not contain any rolls. The second loop is an outside loop. Again, the two loops have to have the same radius and have to be flown at the same altitude. Entry and exit have to be at the same altitude.
Inverted Flat Spin A slowly descending spin where the wings are almost or completely level and the plane is inverted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQNvhSrc4aY
Inverted Harrier Very slow forward flight in a very nose high (about 45º) attitude while Inverted. Uses down elevator to keep the attitude instead of up elevator. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBp_fPM0A54
Knife Edge When the plane is rolled 90 degrees, with the wingtips perpendicular to the ground. Opposite rudder is applied to keep the nose high and the plane flying level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At4DMk3kZSI
Knife Edge Circle When the Plane is in knife edge flight, rolled 90 degrees , the plane completes a complete circle, keeping the plane in level horozontal flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVMrd-moTSk
Knife Edge Hover Similar to a hover, however while in a knife-edge position with Little forward movement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt6U37aUuEI
Knife Edge Loop While In knife Edge Flight, Rolled 90 degrees, the plane performs a loop keeping the wings perpendicular to the ground. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2M4_H0HysM
Knife Edge Snap When the plane is put to a knife edge, then agressively rolled 360 Degrees back to the knife edge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdS5u9DGWXk
Knife Edge Spin When the aircraft is into a spin going UP while rotating around the wing-line of the aircraft in knife-edge flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB_wMZ35hBs
Reversing Knife Edge When the Plane is in a knife edge, and you roll it 180 degrees to the opposite side knife edge, then roll it back again and continue on your knife edge.
Lazy eight 1/4 looping up, wingover (left or right), 1/2 looping down+up, wingover (right or left), 1/4 looping down
Lomcevak When the aircraft’s tail spins pitching down about its wing while the entire aircraft is continuously stalled. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9eCFuqLi2M
Moonwalk Flying the airplane backwards while in a horizontal line
Outside Loop This is a loop entered from level flight where the canopy is pointed outward. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NCDu6UlDfA
Parachute The Parachute is a vertical dive that instantly decelerates in its descent as it abruptly corners 90º, turning into an Elevator. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WomsddUflYE
Prop Hang Or Hover Holding the plane in a stationary vertical position with out it torque rolling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qFvnMMY07M
Pugachev’s Cobra When the nose of the aircraft is pulled up suddenly. The aircraft pitches up to 90° angle of attack. The nose then falls back to the horizontal, and the aircraft accelerates away in the original direction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EpJ3KoUNmI
Regular Spin When The aircraft is stalled and in autorotation about its vertical axis, either upright or inverted. “ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh-PecAilUQ
Roller Coaster Plane is rocking back and forth from full up elevator to full down elevator diving straight to the ground.
Rolling Circle Rolling circle is a maneuver in which an aircraft rolls continuously while turning in a circle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHox2KpLozo
Rolling Circle/Rolling 360 When an aircraft rolls continuously while turning in a circle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHox2KpLozo
Rolling Harrier Very slow forward flight in a very nose high (about 45º) attitude While at the same time continuously rolling the aircraft. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM2_4UESc3U
Rolling Loop Loop aircraft whileat the same time continuously rolling the aircraft. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNio5uZboL4
Slow Roll A typical roll rate for an aerobatic model is around 360° per second. Compared to the average sports model, this rate is slow. To execute a slow roll, you should be trying to get down to 60°-70° per second which means that a slow roll should take 5 or 6 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y894xfCfdzM
Snap Roll, Flick roll; Flick An aggressive roll. Rotation is induced by a rapid pitch input followed by rapid yaw input, thus stalling one wing further than the other. This imbalance in lift causes the high speed roll. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC5mz5o3VD4
Snap Up The Snap-Up is when the airplane comes to a stalled stop into a vertical position from a horizontal flight path with a snap-roll in the middle. This is very similar to a Pop-up or Wall.
Split S Turn Opposite of Immelman. Begin this maneuver with straight and level flight. Use the ailerons to roll 180 degrees. Once the airplane is inverted apply up elevator to perform a half loop. Finish this aerobatic RC maneuver by exiting with straight and level flight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G7rh_WifAY
Square Loop This is a variation of the basic loop. The two vertical lines and the horizontal line on top have to be of the same length. The exit line at the bottom has to be at least as long as the other three sides. The quarter loops that connect the four sides have to have the same radius at each corner.
Tail Slide 1/4 looping up, straight vertical (full power) until the aircraft loses momentum. The aircraft falls backwards, tail first, until the nose drops through the horizon to a vertical down position. 1/4 loop (push or pull) to recovers to level flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6c-AuVS0pE
Terminator When the plane is flying straight and level and then makes a 90 degrees dive straight down toward the ground. When the plane gets close to the ground, you pull up.
The Pogo Hover that climbs and descends.
The Scissors Flying in a vertical zigzagging pattern
The Wall or Pop-Up The Wall or the Pop-Up: is when the airplane comes to a stalled stop into a vertical position from a horizontal flight path. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgkSxk1VsoM
Tick Tock Rotating the airplane 180 degrees to inverted then 180 degrees back to up right as the plane falls vertically
Toilet Bowl Similar to a waterfall, however on a horizontal line. From a knife-edge, the aircraft flips end over end on the horizontal line and continues to fly in original direction
Tourque Roll hovering vertically in place, rotating left around its roll axis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9l5J9OdDSI
Tumbling When The Airplane is Rolled Nose Over Tail while the plane is moving forward. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luBC2dOyEec
Vertical Eight The idea is to do two circular manouevres, one above the other, with both having the same radius, directly in front of the pilot’s stance. The central part of the manouevre is the crossover.
WaterFall The waterfall is a maneuver where the plane pivots 360 degrees in the pitch axes with very little forward motion and altitude gain or loss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIOVgL-Xo6o
Wingover left or right 180° tight turn (yaw) at the top of a 1/4 looping (up)
Yo Yo This is an upright Water Fall. There are a lot of variations with this maneuver.
